Periyar Library Book Scam Alleged Over Dubious Purchases

In Coimbatore, about 1,800 books from an unknown publisher, Agalvilakku Pathipagam, were supplied to the Periyar Arivulagam library, raising suspicions of a Rs 300 crore scam. The library, inaugurated by CM C Joseph Vijay, is a project of former CM M K Stalin. Tamil author Perumal Murugan alleged many books were AI-generated and overpriced, suggesting a massive procurement fraud.
