Paul Newman Donated Land for Westport Nature Preserve

In 1997, actor Paul Newman and his family donated 7.5 acres of woodland beside their Connecticut home to Westport. This land later merged with a 29.9-acre parcel purchased by the town, forming a 37.4-acre public nature preserve. The town proposed open-space zoning to protect the combined area while allowing limited recreation, fulfilling the Newman family's wish to preserve the land for community benefit.
