Pakistan-bound LNG Tanker Attacked Near Strait of Hormuz Despite Iranian Approval
A Pakistan-bound liquified natural gas tanker, Al Mayeda, was attacked near the Strait of Hormuz on October 30 despite prior Iranian approval. The Marshall Islands-flagged vessel, carrying LNG from Qatar Gas Transport Company Limited (Nakilat), was fired upon and forced to turn back towards the Persian Gulf. All 25 crew members, including six Indians, are safe. Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and GCC condemned the attack. Pakistan has not commented, acting as a mediator between the US and Iran.
