Padma Shri Neurosurgeon Dr. Ashok Kumar Mohapatra Dies at 74

Dr. Ashok Kumar Mohapatra, a renowned Indian neurosurgeon and Padma Shri awardee, passed away at 74 in Delhi AIIMS. He was being treated for neurological disorders. In 2017, he performed a complex 16-hour surgery to separate conjoined twins Jagga and Kalia. He also played a key role in establishing AIIMS Bhubaneswar and served as its first director. He received the Padma Shri in 2024 for his medical contributions.
