PoliticsOver 500 detained in Jantar Mantar protest against CEC Gyanesh Kumar
On October 2, over 500 protesters, including AAP leaders and student activists, were detained by Delhi Police during a massive protest at Jantar Mantar against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. Mobile internet was shut down in parts of Central Delhi and Connaught Place ahead of the protest. Allegations of police mishandling women protesters and injuries to AAP leader Saurabh Bharadwaj were reported. Similar protests occurred in Mumbai.
