Over 1,800 Arrested in France Protests Against Inflation
More than 1,800 people were arrested during violent protests across French cities including Paris, Marseille, Lyon, and Bordeaux on October 18, 2026. The demonstrations, marked by clashes, arson, and looting, were against the rising cost of living and fuel prices, partly attributed to inflation caused by the U.S.-Iran war. Interior Minister Laurent Nunez confirmed the arrests and ongoing investigations.
