Nineteen opposition parties held a public impeachment of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, accusing him of conspiring with the BJP to manipulate elections and overseeing a flawed special intensive revision of electoral rolls. The resolution demanding his removal and trial for treason was passed unanimously during a 3.5-hour event attended by over 250 opposition lawmakers at Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge's residence. Rahul Gandhi called it a political weapon to deliver justice to India's youth and uphold the Constitution.
