Omani Co-Pilot Attacked Flydubai Captain Using Crash Axe

On Wednesday, the Omani co-pilot of Flydubai flight FZ1073 attacked Indian Captain Smit Machchhar in the cockpit using the aircraft’s emergency crash axe. The co-pilot attempted to crash the plane, which transmitted emergency codes 7700 and 7500 before safely diverting to Tabuk, Saudi Arabia. Israeli PM Netanyahu confirmed the use of the crash axe. The Federation of Indian Pilots explained the crash axe is standard cockpit safety equipment.
