Om Birla on CEC Impeachment Motion and Parliamentary Session Procedures

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla explained that the Cabinet Committee on Parliamentary Affairs (CCPA) recommends to the President to prorogue parliamentary sessions as per Article 85 of the Constitution. He noted the Monsoon Session is yet to be prorogued because the CCPA has not met. Birla also clarified that terms like Monsoon or Winter Session are colloquial, and parliamentary terminology differs. This was stated ahead of the BRICS Parliamentary meet on October 26-27.
