Odisha Faces Flood Threat as Mahanadi Discharge May Hit 800,000 Cusecs

Odisha faces a flood threat as the Mahanadi river discharge is expected to reach up to 800,000 cusecs by Monday morning at Mundali. Water Resources engineer Dillip Kumar Rout said about 700,000 cusecs will flow by Sunday night, rising to 800,000 cusecs by 10am Monday. Low-lying areas in Khurda, Cuttack, Puri, and Jagatsinghpur may flood, with several rivers in the Mahanadi system above danger levels. Northern Odisha rivers Baitarani, Salandi, and Subarnarekha also remain above danger levels, causing flooding and damage.
