HealthNMC Clarifies FMGE Eligibility Requires Independent Practice License in Georgia
The National Medical Commission (NMC) clarified that foreign medical graduates must hold an independent medical practice license in the country where they obtained their degree to appear for the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE) in India. Merely working as a supervised junior doctor, as in Georgia, does not qualify. This follows a grievance filed regarding the validity of a six-year MBBS course in Georgia for FMGE eligibility.
