The Sensex dropped 570.59 points (0.79%) to close at 71,909.70, hitting a one-year low of 71,292.88 during trading. Nifty fell 198.50 points (0.88%) to 22,421.95, marking its eighth consecutive weak week and the longest 25-year weekly decline. Since January's record high of 26,373, Nifty has dropped nearly 15%. Foreign institutional investors withdrew ₹9,484.22 crore on Thursday, raising concerns of a prolonged market downturn if Nifty falls 20% from its peak.
