PoliticsNIA Probes Use of Indian SIMs for WhatsApp from Pakistan
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has registered two cases to investigate suspected espionage networks in West Bengal linked to Pakistan Intelligence Operatives. The probe focuses on how Indian SIM cards were activated and used to create WhatsApp accounts operated from Pakistan. Four individuals from Paschim Medinipur and Murshidabad are accused of facilitating the misuse of Indian phone numbers to share sensitive information with Pakistan-based handlers. The cases were transferred from West Bengal Special Task Force to NIA for a broader investigation.
