NGT Questions Kerala Pollution Board on Biomedical Waste Dumping

The National Green Tribunal (NGT) has challenged the Kerala State Pollution Control Board's claim of adequate biomedical waste treatment facilities. The NGT's Southern Bench asked why biomedical waste from Kerala was dumped in neighboring states if treatment capacity was sufficient. The board must submit a district-wise list of healthcare facilities lacking proper waste management. Kerala generated about 73.08 tonnes of biomedical waste daily in 2025, with only two operational common treatment facilities.
