New York Declares Disaster Emergency Over Measles with 108 Cases
New York state declared a disaster emergency due to a rise in measles cases, reporting 108 cases as of October 3, including seven in New York City. Governor Kathy Hochul said the emergency will expand health workers authorized to give MMR vaccines and order tests. Most cases since July 15 occurred in under-immunized rural communities across 18 counties. The order lasts until November 4.
