New York City to Ban Horse-Drawn Carriages from June 2028
New York City will ban horse-drawn carriages starting June 1, 2028, following the death of 18-year-old Indian tourist Romanch Mahajan. Romanch died on June 17 after falling from a carriage in Central Park while trying to save his mother, Priya Mahajan, who had fallen first. The carriage driver had briefly left to take a photo during the ride.
