The acid reflux medicine Vonoprijan will only be sold with a doctor's prescription due to risks like vitamin B-12 deficiency, magnesium loss, intestinal infections, and kidney damage from prolonged unsupervised use. Trials for drugs like Afimosphermim Alpha and Resmetirom are also progressing, targeting liver inflammation and fibrosis. Linaclotide 290 mcg is recommended for phase 3 trials as a new option for IBS-C with stomach pain.
