Nepal concluded its search and rescue operation following the August 26 flash floods that killed at least 1,455 people and left 5,285 missing. The government, led by Prime Minister Balendra Shah, decided to shift focus to rehabilitation and reconstruction. The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority confirmed 13,795 people rescued and urged quick action on recovery efforts with a proposed budget of NPR 559.17 billion.
