Nepal Cuts Wait to Declare Flood Missing Dead to 45 Days
Nepal has reduced the waiting period to declare people missing in disasters dead from 12 years to 45 days. This change helps families of 5,285 missing people, including at least 189 Indians from the August 26 floods, to obtain death certificates and claim compensation, insurance, and inheritance. President Ram Chandra Poudel issued the ordinance just before the 45-day deadline.
