Neil Armstrong, the first person to walk on the Moon in 1969, developed his aviation interests as a teenager in his Ohio home. He built model planes, tested them in a homemade wind tunnel, and launched them from his bedroom window. A retired pilot donated $400,000 to help preserve the house, which will be restored to its 1940s state and opened to the public by 2030, Armstrong's birth centenary.
