The National Conference (NC) leadership is taking urgent steps to prevent a party split after Srinagar MP Syed Aga Ruhullah Mehdi's resignation and rebellion by some MLAs. Party president Dr Farooq Abdullah and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah will meet dissident MLAs this week to address grievances and unify the party ahead of upcoming panchayat and urban local body elections and the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly budget session.
