NASA Tests DAVINCI Venus Probe Model at 869°F in Pennsylvania
NASA engineers tested an engineering model of the DAVINCI Venus descent probe to ensure it can protect its scientific instruments from Venus's extreme atmospheric heat. The model, about the size of a yoga ball, was heated to 869°F (465°C) in a furnace at Rex Heat Treat in Bedford, Pennsylvania, over approximately one hour.
