NASA Sends Glow-in-the-Dark Squid to Space Station for Microgravity Study
NASA's UMAMI investigation sent newly hatched bobtail squid, Euprymna scolopes, to the International Space Station to study microgravity effects. These squid partner with the luminescent bacterium Vibrio fischeri, which colonizes a specialized light organ, causing the squid to glow in the dark. Scientists aim to understand animal-microbe interactions in space.
