NASA Launches Spacecraft to Inspect Dead Satellites and Test Repair Tech
NASA launched a washing-machine-sized spacecraft on October 1 to inspect up to four inactive satellites and rocket bodies in low Earth orbit. The SSPICY mission will begin inspections in early 2027. It uses autonomous navigation, sensors, and electric propulsion to test technologies aimed at future satellite repair and orbital debris removal.
