NASA Bioprints Human Knee Meniscus in Space
In 2023, NASA's orbiting 3D printer successfully bioprinted a human knee meniscus, marking one of the first instances of human tissue being produced in space. This follows previous efforts, including a Russian bioprinter creating human cartilage tissue in orbit in 2018. The research aims to advance space manufacturing and medical treatments for astronauts.
