Mumbai Crime Branch arrested a 36-year-old software developer from Madhya Pradesh for creating fake APK files and selling them to cybercriminal gangs. The accused made 2,805 fake APKs, defrauding about 9,673 people across India of approximately ₹15.75 crore. The case began after a 72-year-old victim was tricked into sharing bank details via a fake 'Senior Citizen Card Verification' APK, losing ₹5.62 lakh.
