Mumbai local train signaling restored after fire disruption

Mumbai local train services were disrupted for several hours on Monday due to a fire in the signaling room at Kanjurmarg, which caused the signaling system to fail. Additionally, a hanging wire between Mulund and Thane affected operations. By Monday evening, signaling was restored on all four suburban lines at Kanjurmarg. The fire impacted about 24 signals between Kanjurmarg and Bhandup stations, including lines used by long-distance trains. Restoration on the fifth and sixth lines was ongoing.

ICE Removes Guyanese Immigrant Kanand Ojha Over 2015 Murder

US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) removed 45-year-old Kanand Ojha, wanted in Guyana for the 2015 murder of Nephi Noel in Georgetown. Ojha was arrested in Queens on September 8, 2025, after entering the US legally in July 2015 but losing his immigration status due to an outstanding warrant. He was deported on September 18, 2025. An alleged accomplice was sentenced to 20 years in 2017.
