Mumbai Law Officer Sent on Leave After Supreme Court Criticism on Encroachment

Mumbai's Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has taken action against two officials after the Supreme Court criticized its handling of an encroachment case. Chief Law Officer Komal Punjabi was sent on forced leave, and show-cause notices were issued to her and R-South ward officer Prafull Tambe. The Supreme Court also issued a contempt notice to Municipal Commissioner Ashwini Bhide and froze her November salary along with other officials.
