MSME Ministry Seeks ₹6,000 Crore for Khadi, Village Industries

The Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) has requested ₹6,000 crore to fund the Khadi Gramodyog Vikas Yojana for five years until March 2031. The scheme supports artisans, mainly women, rural youth, self-help groups, and village industries, crucial for rural livelihoods. About 20.4 million people were engaged in these sectors in FY26. The government spent ₹2,374 crore on the scheme in the prior three years.
