WorldMOSPI to Measure India's Knowledge Economy Using Five Indicators
The Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MOSPI) is developing measures for India's knowledge economy using patents, copyrights, trademarks, industrial designs, and geographical indicators. The effort aims to fill data gaps and better recognize the creative economy. Patent grants reached over 100,000 in FY24, and geographical indicators rose to 160. MOSPI also plans new surveys and an updated Index of Industrial Production by May 2024.
