Montana Student Develops Stronger Bioplastic from Plantain Starch
Rye Lynn Rost, a seventh grader from Montana, created bioplastics using starch from plantains and bananas. She found that plantain starch produces bioplastics with higher tensile strength than those made from bananas. Rye tested both bioplastics against plastic parafilm to compare their durability. Her project aims to develop sustainable bioplastics that remain strong in environmental conditions over time.
