Monsoon Rain Cuts Karnataka’s Daily Power Demand by 25%
Karnataka's daily power demand dropped by 25% due to a late monsoon surge, falling nearly 5,000 MW by Thursday. In Bengaluru's Bescom area alone, demand decreased by over 700 MW. Reduced use of irrigation pumps and air conditioners, especially in rain-affected districts like Davanagere and Tumakuru, contributed to the decline. This drop allows the energy department to replenish resources ahead of expected future demand spikes.
