PoliticsMoEF Approves Environmental and CRZ Clearance for Puri Airport
The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change has granted environmental and Coastal Regulation Zone clearances for the development of the greenfield Shree Jagannath International Airport on 471.348 hectares in Sipasarubali, Puri District. The approval follows the Expert Appraisal Committee's recommendation and includes specific conditions. The airport will be developed in phases near Sipasarubali village, about 50 km from Bhubaneswar's Biju Patnaik International Airport. The Ministry of Civil Aviation had earlier cleared the site. The first phase expects 4.6 million passengers annually.
