WorldMiddle East Crisis May Delay Delhi's 70 New Mechanical Road Sweepers
The Middle East crisis is likely to delay the arrival of 70 new mechanical road sweeping machines (MRSMs) for Delhi, which were expected to nearly double the city's mechanised road-sweeping fleet before winter pollution season. The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) is hiring 40 additional sweepers for four months as a contingency. Currently, 66 sweepers operate across 1,400 km of major roads, lifting around 190 tonnes of dust daily, though their effectiveness has been questioned.
