Mehli Mistry Urges Maharashtra Charity Commissioner to Rule on Tata Trusts Directors' Earnings
Mehli Mistry, former trustee of Sir Dorabji Tata Trust, has urged the Maharashtra Charity Commissioner to rule that commissions earned by Tata Trusts-nominated directors on Tata Sons' board belong to the charitable trusts and should be remitted to them. Mistry argued these directors act in a fiduciary capacity and must account for financial advantages to the trusts, citing the Indian Trusts Act and comparing to public sector norms.
