Malnourished Mississippi Stray Becomes 2026 FEMA Search Dog of the Year
Canyon, a severely malnourished stray rescued in Mississippi in 2021, received months of medical care at Hancock County Animal Shelter. His intelligence and drive led to his selection as a FEMA search-and-rescue dog, working in some of the US's toughest disaster zones. He has now been named the 2026 Dog of the Year for his service.
