Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced that the state government is preparing a detailed plan to provide employment, foodgrains, drinking water, and fodder for livestock in drought-affected areas over the next six to eight months. Deficient rainfall has severely impacted soybean, cotton, tur, and sugarcane crops. The rabi sowing prospects are bleak due to water shortages, causing economic hardship for small farmers. The Central drought assessment team will report to the Union government on the severity of the drought.
