The Maharashtra government will lease exposed cultivable land in reservoirs and tanks across 304 drought-declared talukas to farmers and livestock owners for short-duration fodder crops. This aims to improve fodder availability after deficient rainfall in the 2026 kharif season. Crops like maize, sorghum, pearl millet, nutrifeed, berseem, and oats will be allowed, with preference for maize and sorghum for silage, as per guidelines issued by the Soil and Water Conservation Department.
