Maharashtra Forest Minister Seeks to Minimise Tree Loss for Karjat Power Project
Maharashtra Forest Minister Ganesh Naik is exploring ways to protect maximum trees at the Karjat power project site in Saidongar, Raigad. The forest department had approved cutting 32,490 trees for the ₹13,500-crore project, but felling was halted after public opposition. Naik is reviewing the project and aims to preserve and plant more trees. CM Devendra Fadnavis supports the project, calling it environmentally sustainable and necessary for 3000 MW power generation.
