Madras HC Rules Property Self-Acquired, Not Ancestral in Gift Dispute
The Madras High Court ruled that a 2.5-acre property was self-acquired, not ancestral. Consequently, under Hindu law, a man and his mother legally executed a gift settlement deed favoring the man's second wife, who later sold the property. The court rejected a woman's claim that the land was ancestral after the stepmother sold it.
