PoliticsLeft Parties Protest Against Election Commission and Roll Revision
Five Left parties in India—CPI(M), CPI, CPI(ML) Liberation, RSP, and Forward Bloc—have launched a nationwide protest demanding the removal of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and a halt to the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls. Leaders including CPI(M) general secretary M A Baby, Brinda Karat, and Rajya Sabha MPs A A Rahim, V Sivadasan, and P Santosh Kumar have been detained during these protests, which question the Election Commission's independence and the SIR process.
