Late Cancer Diagnosis in India Despite Screening Programs
Cancer in India is often diagnosed at advanced stages, making treatment harder and reducing survival chances. The Indian Council of Medical Research reported 13.92 lakh new cancer cases and 7.7 lakh deaths in 2020. Although India has a public screening program under the National Programme for Prevention and Control of Non-Communicable Diseases, many patients still miss early detection due to organizational and behavioral factors.
