WorldLaotian Immigrant Released from Eswatini Prison After US Deportation
Phone Chomsavanh, a Laotian citizen deported by the US to Eswatini under the Trump administration's immigration crackdown, was released from a maximum security prison after more than a year. Deported in July 2025 with four others, he had no ties to Eswatini. His lawyer confirmed Chomsavanh is now being deported to Laos. All were convicted in the US but had completed their sentences before deportation.
