BusinessLadakh Plants 90,000 Iranian Saffron Corms in Leh for First Time
Ladakh has planted nearly 90,000 premium Iranian saffron corms, weighing around 800 kg, across 4,000 square meters of previously barren land at Spituk Pharka in Leh. This pilot project, led by Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena, aims to restore degraded land and diversify agriculture. It follows successful floriculture experiments with Lilium and Gladiolus, creating new livelihoods for local farmers and entrepreneurs.
