The All Ladakh Liquor Traders Association criticized climate activist Sonam Wangchuk's demand to make Ladakh a dry Union Territory and questioned the licence of his apple wine brand 'Ule Topo'. They challenged the new Excise Policy 2026-27, which increases retail liquor outlets from two to 20, and accused Wangchuk of inconsistent views on alcohol. The Association also questioned why liquor is targeted while other issues like drug use and meat consumption are not addressed.
