Ladakh Administration Cancels Sonam Wangchuk's Institute Land Allotment

The Ladakh administration informed the Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh High Court that the land allotment to Sonam Wangchuk's Himalayan Institute of Alternative Learning (HIAL) lapsed in 2019. The 40-year lease for 1,076 kanals and one marla at Phyang, Leh, was conditional on executing a lease deed and paying dues, which HIAL failed to fulfill. The allotment was cancelled by operation of conditions on May 5, 2019.
