Kuki-Naga Clashes Spread to New Hill Districts in Manipur

Three years after initial violence between Meitei and Kuki-Zo communities, Manipur's conflict shifted in 2026 to hill districts, involving Kuki and Naga groups. Nearly 100 people died in over 300 violent incidents from January to October, mainly in Ukhrul, Kamjong, Kangpokpi, Noney, Tamenglong, and Senapati. The latest violence began after a Tangkhul Naga man was assaulted by Kuki men in Ukhrul, sparking riots, arson, curfews, and internet suspension.
