Kodak Operated Uranium-Based Nuclear Device Under Rochester Lab
Kodak operated a uranium-based research device beneath its Rochester laboratory from 1975 to 2006. The device was used to examine materials and detect impurities by producing neutrons through nuclear fission. It attracted public attention in 2012 due to its highly enriched uranium content. Unlike conventional reactors, it could not sustain an independent chain reaction.
