Kerala to Set Up 2,000-MW Battery Storage with NTPC at Kayamkulam

Kerala government will collaborate with NTPC Ltd to establish a 2,000 megawatt-hour battery energy storage system (BESS) at Kayamkulam in Alappuzha district. This initiative aims to address the state's electricity shortage. Kerala State Electricity Board will sign an MoU with NTPC and NTPC Green Energy Limited. The BESS will be built on NTPC land at the unused Rajiv Gandhi Combined Cycle Power Plant site. A 27-MW solar project by NTPC at Kayamkulam will also be expedited.
