BusinessPhoto: MintKerala Hotels to Stop UPI Payments Above ₹2,000 from Oct 15
The Kerala Hotel and Restaurant Association (KHRA) announced that from October 15, its members will stop accepting UPI payments above ₹2,000. This protest is against the proposed 0.4% merchant discount rate (MDR) on digital transactions, which KHRA says will increase financial burdens on small businesses like hotels and restaurants. Customers paying over ₹2,000 must use cash. KHRA president G. Jayapal highlighted rising costs and financial strain on the industry.
